The Viral Series begins with a single unit that morphs, replicates, accumulates until a critical mass of form emerges. Through sculptural elements, shadows, paint, and drawing, I hope to relay concepts of growth and to suggest interpretive polarities. For example these pieces reference the beauty of pattern in swirling leaves, seeds, insects, or flocks of birds, but are also imbued with an undertow of unrest also indicating patterns in viral growth, insect swarms, or spiraling galactic collisions. I'm interested in this dichotomy, both the beauty of and the fear of nature.

The Geographies Series references views of aerial landscapes and infers the cultural positioning and mediation inherent to perception of one?s environment. I think that everyone navigates with an internal map that grids off logical compartments of experience from the wilderness of emotions. Globalization has a peculiar effect of simultaneously reinforcing and dissolving boundaries. I am always amazed by the experience of flying and the connectedness of spaces that seem so separate when on the ground.
